Short weekends..

Why are the weekends so short? Before you know it, the weekend has come and gone. Wonder why it doesn't happen with the weekdays. At least for me it doesn't :). I didn't do much this weekend except watch movies, cricket and football. All my favourite teams won, so it was worthwhile waking up at 6:30 AM on a Sunday morning.

I have ordered for a digicam and hopefully I should be getting this week. Am pretty excited and I will start clicking soon. Maybe I'll upload a few of my artistic pics :P. Cost me around $350 but the reviews on the net suggest that it's a very good cam and even the user ratings are pretty good. I hope it does live up to the billing.

There were no great movies this weekend in the theatres. Could have gone to Greenberg/The Runaways, but my friend who was supposed to accompany me to the movie ditched me in the end. Anyway, I can watch it later on so no complaints. Went out for lunch to an Indian buffet. It was pretty good and I'm sure the appetizers I ate only added to my already increasing waistline (the term "waistline" can be used for guys too right? :)).

All my family is out of town for my niece's function. My mom told me about all the nice things they had to eat and I was jealous. More than the food, its the fact that I miss all the good times playing with my nephew and niece which bothers me. Then again, I crib about it all the time so its nothing new :). Some day in the near future, I will be in India with them having a blast. I don't know when that "Some day" is.

Fed lost early in the IW masters series. It wasn't surprising considering his health issues of late and his poor performance in best of 3 tournaments. Anyway, he should be focusing on slams at this point in his career. I'd rather he won all 4 slams than the 7 odd masters titles. DC have been doing well in the IPL, but the worrying part is no Indian players are making big contributions. Manchester United beat Liverpool and as usual Rafa Benitez had excuses ready for why they lost. If he invested some effort in building his team, they wouldn't have been fighting for the fourth spot. Looks like its United's title to lose from hereon.

New York New York

Yeah I am working in New York city now. After being jobless for over 1.5 months and almost going back to India, I am working in Wall Street :). When I first visited New York city a couple of years ago, I liked the city a lot. Since then, I have always wanted to work here and now is my chance. Started work 10 days ago and it has been good so far. Colleagues have been nice and helpful.

I reach WTC site by train and from there Wall Street is a 10 min walk. With so many people around all the time, NYC reminds me of Mumbai a lot. There are a lot of ancient buildings as well as the skyscrapers making it a perfect blend of the old and the new. I did some research and found out that the oldest skyscraper (Flatiron building) in NYC was built in 1902.

The best part about NYC is undoubtedly the food, especially for a foodie like me. You have all these street carts where you get chicken/fish and rice for 5 bucks. The rice tastes like the biryani we have back home in India. So, I end up having the same food almost everyday (I am not complaining though :P).

The weather was pretty bad the last couple of weeks, but it is getting better now. Hopefully in a month or so it will be pretty good. Then I can do some site seeing during the weekends. I have some exams to clear and its pretty irritating since they aren't going to help me much technically speaking. But certain things are unavoidable so I guess I have to try and study a bit. More about the last 1.5 months in the next post (provided I dont get lazy again and stop blogging :D). Later
