A decade of friendship

10 years ago on this day I started college. Can't believe time passes so fast, it doesn't feel like yesterday (I'd be exaggerating if I said that) but it has definitely flown pretty quickly. I have made a lot of friends, some who just drifted and are not in touch, some who are in touch and some who are friends for life. The ones who drifted happened to be friends in college since we saw each other everyday almost. Once college was over, we didn't make a conscious effort to stay in touch. I share the blame for not being in touch, but I guess I didn't care, so no complaints.

People who are still in touch are strictly "we are in touch" friends and I don't report my day to day activities to them and vice versa. I am happy that way and I'm sure they are too :). Then we have the friends for life, who know everything that's happening in my life and vice versa (I'd like to think the vice versa part is true in most cases :P). People get busy with their own lives, get married and stuff but we still make an attempt to stay in touch. It's not that hard as people make it sound. You just have to take the ego out of the equation and not say why should I call him/her when he/she doesn't call me. This I have noticed especially in people who are in the US. Agreed he didn't call, but how are you any different, if you aren't calling as well.

Had some really great times in the last 10 years, bunking college and watching movies, Vizag trip, Mumbai trip, trips in the US and loads of other times I can't possibly mention in this blog. I hope there are a lot more good times left in the tank :). I called most of my friends today and spoke to them, felt good.

Fed lost in the semis of WTF, felt a bit bad but then you can't win them all. I hope he comes back next year with motivation and wins a few more slams. I don't care if he loses in the masters quarters as long as he wins the slams. Manchester United won over the weekend which was a relief, but Chelsea are still winning. I hope it doesn't continue for long and they start dropping points soon enough. We should win the league this season as well and that would be quite an achievement.

Saw Arya 2 over the weekend, didn't come anywhere close to the first part. The director failed to convince, why the hero acts the way he does and that is the biggest drawback of the movie. Downloading Grey's anatomy right now, need to catch up on all past seasons :). Meeting a friend next weekend, so looking forward to that. Later.

I'm back...

Long time no see huh..Well it has to do with the fact that I am plain lazy :). Since the last time i posted, a lot has happened. DC won IPL 2, Fed won the French and Wimbledon, my bro had a baby girl and I went to India only to be sent back to the US after 3 months. Well it was my choice to come back, but somehow you always pine for home when you are away. Can't help it :). I wanted to continue writing but somehow laziness got the better of me. Anyway here I am. I worked in Chennai for 3 months and the experience was bitter/sweet. Bitter because I had to stay away from Hyd and live in a hostel which is 60 kms. from human civilization. Sweet because I got to work with some nice people and learn new things.

I had a lot of fun with friends in Pune and Hyd of course. Ate at all my fave places and spent quality time with friends. Now its back to the US, CA this time. At least I have a new place and new friends to look forward to. It has been nice so far and I am living alone. It doesn't feel weird at all and I am enjoying the loneliness. I have started looking for a roomie though, mainly to save some more money :). After all there are things to be done (read buying an apartment). So, a few more dollars saved every month wont hurt me at all.

Coming to the sports highights, I think watching Fed win Wimbledon and French was a great experience. I was praying so hard for him to not goof up the French, especially since Nadal wasn't around. Thankfully he didn't and also the Wimbledon final was a lot closer than expected. A-Rod played really well, but in the end fell a bit short. Felt really bad for him and I hope he does win Wimbledon one day (probably after Fed retires :P). Fed lost the US open, but I guess Del P really deserved to win. His forehand was awesome and I guess Fed underestimated him a bit. I do hope Fed wins the year end championships and starts next year on a good note. Even though I am not missing Nadal very much, its just not the same without him and Fed in the finals. I hope he does well next year :).

Cricket has been ok, not much to follow. I dont like T20 and one days a lot and there is hardly any test cricket going on. Srilanka kicked India's a** in the first test and hopefully Gambhir and co will save the test. Sachin played a blinder in Hyd and I didn't even follow it online :(. The guy is a genius, but you dont need me to tell you that :). EPL has been going ok with Man Utd not playing very well. Both the matches I saw against L'pool and Chelsea were losses for our team. I have decided not to watch any live games and just keep following the scorelines.

Coming to movies, I haven't seen a lot many good movies lately but Shawshank was really good. I am glad I finally watched it. Started reading Twilight yesterday, its not bad. Planning to finish reading the first two books and then watch New Moon, it releases tomorrow. Some good movies coming up and the one everybody is waiting for is Avatar. I hope James Cameron lives up to his tag of "the king of the world". After all he has taken 12 long years to come up with his next movie. Work is going ok, I just need to start getting the hang of technical stuff. Hope I do that really soon. Just one more day for the weekend, I am planning to do some reading and watching movies. Later.
